Carrick-on-Suir is a town of 6,000 inhabitants serving a local community of some 10,000 people. The Town offers a range of housing, retail and commercial local services to the broader hinterland area. The Town itself is in County Tipperary, however the immediate environs of its southern edge area are in the Waterford County Council's administrative area.

Carrick-on-Suir is located on the National Road 24 (N24), the route which runs from Rosslare Ferry Port to Limerick. It is approximately 23kms northwest of Waterford City. The Town itself is in County Tipperary, however the immediate environs of its southern edge area are in the Waterford County Council administrative area.
