ImplementationImplementation of County Waterford Economic Plan will be driven by Waterford County Council. All relevant agencies have been consulted on the preparation of the Economic Plan, and are committed to its implementation. The agencies are represented on an Economic Sub-Committee of Waterford County Development Board, which will ultimately be responsible for the implementation of the plan. Success of the plan will be measured against Key Performance Indicators (KPI) which are set against each action. Waterford County Council will continue to drive and monitor progress on implementing the plan through the relevant Strategic Policy Committee and reporting directly to Waterford County Council. Both the public and private sectors have key roles in the economic development of County Waterford. The public sector can enhance the business environment for the private sector to create jobs. Economic development is dynamic, as technology changes, processes improve and research and development are commercialised. Employers must continuously innovate and employees will need to provide the skills that match the evolving needs of industry. Thus, as illustrated in Figure 1.2, the delivery of this Economic Plan will require a partnership approach between the public sector, private sector and employees. Communication between these partners is critical to the successful implementation of the Plan.
To implement the plan and ensure that it is informed by the requirements of employers, formal and informal links with business will be strengthened.
